If you thought that ticks in the Worcester, Massachusetts area were confined only to more wooded, rural areas, then we have bad news. It appears that ticks are migrating to the suburbs along with people. While this may come as a shock to a lot of people, it’s something we’ve been aware of for years at Mosquito Squad of Worcester. In fact, it’s the primary reason we offer season-long mosquito and tick control to our customers. While mosquitoes may be annoying and aggressive, ticks carry some of the nastiest diseases out there. So, if you want to keep your yard free of ticks, call Mosquito Squad of Worcester today at (508) 388-5640!
According to a recent article by Boston 25 News, “Instead of it being in the deep woods, they’re in the suburbs and not just in the suburbs – near urban areas,”. The most dangerous and difficult tick to spot is the nymph. These ticks are still growing and are only about the size of a poppy seed. Due to their small size, it’s difficult to see them and identify them quickly. Additionally, these ticks are most responsible for transmitting Lyme disease. Nymphs have already had their first blood meal, which is where they pick up the Lyme bacteria and then they pass it on to the next victim they attach themselves to.
If you’re planning on spending time in your yard this summer without having to worry about ticks latching onto you, your family members or your pets, then just give us a call. We offer a barrier treatment that will knock down existing ticks and stop them in their tracks for up to 21 days. Additionally, if you really want to be proactive, we offer intensive tick treatments that will virtually eliminate all remnants of ticks in your yard. We use our barrier treatment in combination with tick tubes. Tick tubes rely on mice that retrieve the cotton from the inside of the tick tube that’s laced with a tick exterminating ingredient. The product doesn’t harm the mice, but will definitely impact the ticks that feed on the mice.
