Meet Owner Brett Stephen

Brett Stephen is a Colorado native from Grand Junction. He studied business administration and management at Colorado Mesa University and worked in sales and management for 10 years with Verizon Wireless. Brett’s educational and professional background, along with his experience in multi-level managing, sales, and marketing made him a strong candidate for Mosquito Squad franchise ownership. Bret operates the business with his co-owner, Ashley Taylor.

“I wanted to have something of my own with a proven business plan for success. After doing extensive research on Mosquito Squad, I realized that it was a great brand to be a part of,” said Brett Stephen. “The Western Slope is a valley surrounded by beautiful mountains and scenery. The current mosquito problem in the area forces a lot of families to stay indoors, so we’re excited to bring a service that will allow our clients to enjoy their backyards and the outdoors again.”

Meet Co-Owner Ashley Taylor

Ashley Taylor was raised on the Western Slope of Colorado and has been in the banking and mortgage trade for over 8 years. Ashley was raised in the farming industry with a family orchard in beautiful Palisade, Colorado. With a love for the outdoors and a passion for entertaining, Mosquito Squad seemed to be a perfect fit.

“We love to have family barbecues at our house but we would always have to move everyone inside once the swarms of mosquitoes would come in. West Nile virus is something I am just not willing to risk”. After the first barrier treatment was put down and the mosquitoes vanished, Ashley was hooked!

Their 5-year-old son Preston always wants to run around outside and have water gun wars with his friends. Since children are typically more prone to mosquito bites, Preston would always come back inside covered in bites. Now that we have barrier treatments, Preston can safely go outside and play with his friends and the family dogs: Kimbo (Shih Tzu) and Rhino (Old English Sheep Dog). This treatment also significantly reduces the risk of heartworm in our puppies since heartworm is typically transferred from mosquitoes.

Meet Marketing & Web Manager Josh Meuwly

Josh has been a resident of Colorado for over 25 years. He studied Graphic Design from the Art Institute in Denver CO and received his bachelor’s degree in 2006. Currently he is seeking a master’s degree and teaches graphics, web, photography, video production and design at Colorado Mesa University. His other business 970PRO has been around The Grand Valley serving Grand Junction since 2008, and he has created countless graphics websites and thousands of commercials for local companies over the years. While his three kids and two German Shepherds keep him busy, his dedication to his family is his number one priority. With his soon-to-be-wife Katy working in the veterinary field, both of them know how important it is to keep the mosquitoes away from their family and pets.

When Josh isn’t buried in Mosquito Squad work, he and his family love traveling and seeing family from California to Louisiana and everywhere in between. He spends his time raising his children Tehgan (age 6), Jaxxon (age 4), and Masyn (age 2) and taking their German Shepherds to the dog park for play and training. Josh often finds himself volunteering to teach technology camps for middle and high school students around the valley. Although Josh and his family love the outdoors, Josh is also a huge nerd when it comes to technology. He may be often taking his breaks to game online or visit a VR world.
