The Time Has Come

Well, the time has come. The bugs are showing up. We had a good time during the winter being bug-free but now we have to face the reality of these creepy crawlies waking up and pestering us once again. It starts slow but soon we’ll be back to the annual full-scale invasion of insects crawling toward backyard domination. But are we going to toss up our hands and give up? Of course not! We go through this every year so we have our tricks to combat the growing presence of these pests.

First, we educate, and then we eliminate by calling Mosquito Squad of West Michigan Lakeshore to provide you with proactive protection against mosquitos, ticks, and other pests throughout the season. Some of the first bugs you might encounter are brown marmorated stink bugs who don't get their name for their alluring aroma.

Stink bugs are a type of insect that is native to Asia. They were first introduced to the United States in the late 1990s, and they have since become a major pest problem in many parts of the country.

Stink bugs are attracted to light and heat, so they often enter homes through windows or doors in the fall and early spring when it’s still chilly. Once inside, they can cause damage to indoor plants and even furniture. They can also release an unpleasant odor when they are crushed or threatened.

There are a few things that you can do to prevent stink bugs from entering your home. First, ensure all your windows and doors are properly sealed. You can also use screens on your windows and doors to keep insects out.

If you do find stink bugs inside your home, there are a few ways to get rid of them. You can use a vacuum cleaner to suck them up, or you can place them in a container filled with water and soap. You can also use an insecticide spray to kill them. Whatever you do, DO NOT SQUISH these aptly named stink bugs. When threatened or smashed under a boot, these bugs release a foul odor so it’s best to find alternate ways to dispose of them.

Stink bugs are a nuisance, but they are not a major threat to human health. However, they can cause damage to crops and plants, so it is important to take steps to prevent them from entering your home and your yard.
