Lyme Disease – 10 Year Study
Posted by Mosquito SquadMay 14, 2014
Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne illness in North America. It is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. Deer ticks, which feed on the blood of animals and humans, can harbor the bacteria and spread it when feeding.
The disease can be spread when an infected tick bites a person and stays attached for a period of time. The spread of Lyme Disease has been moving across teh nation remarkably fast. Check out these maps below from the Centers of Disease Control on reported cases of Lyme Disease from 2001 – 2011.
