Let’s start by saying that People are not the only things Mosquitoes eat.   In fact, Mosquitoes, only take the blood meal when it is time to lay eggs.   They live on the nectar and honey dew from plants.   These sugars give them enough nutrients to live.

The females take the blood meal from birds, reptiles, mammals and yes humans when they are ready to lay eggs.   They need the protein to produce the eggs.    After laying the eggs the process will repeat as long as the female lives.   This process can happen several times over the life cycle of the mosquito.

For fun, let’s look at a little mosquito math.

So the next time you say, how did I get so many mosquitoes, think of this chart and how fast they multiply.
