A Visit From Mosquito Squad
Posted by Mosquito SquadDecember 20, 2023
‘Twas the night before Summer Break, when all through the Midwest
Every creature was stirring, especially the pests;
The cans of bug spray were all empty, their users in despair
In hopes that Mosquito Squad soon would be there;
The children were restless waiting indoors;
While wishing to be outside, playing not bored;
And mama in her sun hat, and I in my apron,
Had just wanted to enjoy the sunshine again,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my armchair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a jet plane,
Tore open the blinds and threw up the pane.
The sun on the blades of freshly grown grass,
Gave a vision of color like kaleidoscope glass,
When the image to my eyes came to fruition,
But a pick-up truck and two technicians,
With my excitement rising I could nearly applaud,
I knew in a moment they must be Mosquito Squad.
More rapid than eagles they moved quite fast,
And they whistled, and shouted, and called out their tasks:
“Now, Traditional Barrier Treatment! now, Delta Gaurd G!
On, Stink Bug Control! on, Fly Control! It’s quite the itinerary!
To the back of the house! to the tree line out there!
Now spray away! spray away! and mosquitoes beware!”
As they readied their equipment and check their supplies,
When they applied the treatment, it was a sight for sore eyes;
So up to the property line their machines did spew
With the Traditional Barrier Treatment, and Delta Gaurd too-
And then, in a twinkling, I heard at the door
A knocking and shuffling, I waited to hear more.
As I walked to the entrance, and was turning the knob,
Appeared a technician, done with their job.
He was dressed all in Mosquito Squad swag, from his head to his foot,
And he stood there with a smile, wanting some input;
He treated my home to keep the pests away,
With a Satisfaction Guarantee to keep them at bay.
A shake of his hand and a nod of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He packed up his things, ready to head down the road,
And I’m quite sure he had a full workload,
And heading outside I breathed a sigh of relief,
And once again of my yard, I was commander in chief;
He sprang to his truck, to his partner gave a shout,
And away they drove to the next house no doubt.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove down the roadway -
