If you are bitten by a tick, you have up to a 50% chance of contracting this pathogen in our area. The disease doesn’t transmit immediately, however. A tick must remain attached for 36-48 hours before Lyme disease can pass into your body. This might seem like a long time, but ticks are good at hiding in places we don’t check.
