Maximize Your Sunshine

Here in Central Kentucky, we enjoy between 175 to 193 days of sunshine in any given year.  That's part of the perfect formula that makes our April and October so colorful and enjoyable.  

Nature needs a balance of sunshine and rain.

My observation is that I enjoy sunshine more than rain.  Coffee in the morning sunshine and unwinding in the evening sunset are the best times to escape to our outdoor sanctuaries.   Even though we may enjoy fewer days of sunshine than the national average, we can still enjoy more time in the sun for any given sunny day.

The length of the mosquito season is more dependent on the temperature than the sunshine and over the last few decades, the mosquito season has been extended by 35 days as the spring and fall temperatures drift upward.
