As Fall approaches, you may be starting to reconsider continuing with the remainder of your season. Whether you have kids going back to school or the pool is getting closed up, knowing more information about how this can backfire may sway your decision.

Why the Life Cycle is Important

Skipping out on the remaining services not only breaks the barrier protection, it gives mosquitoes their opportunity to restart breeding. It takes about 7 days from the time females lay eggs to the time they become adults causing a nuisance. Mosquitoes lay eggs, hibernate and can survive low temperatures during winter months. This means that all the eggs laid prior to hibernation have the opportunity to survive the colder temperature. Rather than waiting for the Spring, female Aedes mosquitoes lay eggs before they die off. The eggs then go into a state of suspended development until rainfall submerges them. In order for mosquitoes to hatch, the two factors required to do so are water and temperatures about 50 degrees.

The last treatment is vital to setting you up for success in the spring. Our professionally trained technicians will make sure to tackle the remaining mosquitoes and treat areas of standing water. Ending the season early can give female mosquitoes a chance to lay more eggs before the first very cold day only for them to return next Spring as temperatures rise.
