Stay Mosquito Safe Throughout Autumn
Posted by Mosquito SquadAugust 13, 2019
Autumn in St. Louis is here, which means the mosquito season is winding down in the Midwest. However, it’s still important to continue to take action to prevent mosquito breeding grounds through the end of the year.
So, while the fall brings us cooler temperatures, that doesn’t mean St. Louis is totally in the clear from mosquitoes and their annoying bites. Through October, it remains important that people continue to eliminate the breeding grounds for pesky mosquitoes by draining outdoor containers that can hold standing water.
It’s important to keep in mind that it doesn’t take a large amount of water for a mosquito breeding ground. Items such as kids’ toys or even gutters and flat spots on your roof can hold enough water for mosquitoes to breed.
Additionally, it’s important to keep using insect repellents while outdoors. While temperatures in St. Louis are starting to drop, that doesn’t necessarily mean that mosquitoes are completely dormant. Be sure to continue to apply mosquito repellent to any exposed skin areas while enjoying the great outdoors – even playgrounds and picnic areas.
