A Dog Trainers View on Protecting Your Pets from Mosquitoes

I appreciate that people care so much about our planet and the people and animals on it that they voice opinions and ask questions about the synthetic materials we use to treat our customers’ yards. In fact, I am a co-owner of Mosquito Squad of Greater Saint Louis and, by trade, a professional landscape designer with the same high regard for the environment.
In May I came across an interesting article published by The Huffington Post discussing the dangers ticks, fleas and mosquitoes pose to families and pets. The article mentions how the writer, professional dog trainer Sarah Hodgson, at one point was the master at mixing natural bug repellents to apply to her pets. However, after becoming a mother she soon realized that creating these non-toxic bug brews for her pets was an unwieldy task and did not offer the results she wanted. She shares with readers that the known risks bug bites pose for those she loves are too great, so she has turned to yard barrier treatments that protect against mosquitoes, ticks and fleas, treated pet collars and topical solutions. (Especially since her pets often end up in her bed!)
