Experts Predict Big Mosquito Season

Mosquito control industry experts are predicting a “big year (for mosquitoes in South Carolina) especially around lakes, rivers and other bodies of water” which are swollen from all the rains the area has received in the last several months.  It’s recommended that still water be treated with larvacides, in order to reduce the swarms of adult mosquitoes from hatching.  These warnings and recommendations are according to Scott Kennedy, President of the South Carolina Mosquito Control Association (SCMCA) and Environmental Health Manager with the  York (SC) Dept. of Health and Environmental Control.  Kennedy further states that larvacides are the only option many counties in South Carolina have available to control mosquito hatches, as many county governments do not have mist equipment to control adult mosquitoes.
