Let Ticks Know There Will Be NO Vacancies In Your Weymouth & South Shore, MA Yard This Season
Posted by Mosquito SquadApril 12, 2018
Here in the Weymouth and South Shore areas of Massachusetts, ticks can be a year-round problem, but they’re most active from March to mid-May and from mid-August to November. At Mosquito Squad of Boston Metro South, one of our key goals is to ensure you and your family are protected against the dangers of tick-borne illness and disease. That is why we are beginning our tick tube implementation service this week.
Let Ticks Know Your Yard Has No Vacancies!
It may seem too early for ticks to begin emerging from their winter’s nap, however, ticks have already begun to make an appearance in our area this year. Mosquito Squad of Boston Metro South has received numerous calls from residents finding ticks in their yard, on their pets and on themselves and their family.
Even early in the season, as soon as ticks emerge they will attach to animals or people that come into direct contact with them in search of a blood meal. Deer ticks and dog ticks are found throughout Massachusetts; Lone Star ticks are also found in some areas of Massachusetts.
The bite of an infected tick can result in debilitating issues for humans and pets. Here in Massachusetts, these include Lyme disease, Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis, Tularemia, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Borrelia miyamotoi and Powassan virus.
Time Is Ticking…
It is important to remember that ticks do not die in the winter, they hibernate. With warmer temperatures in the forecast, many are coming out of hibernation to feed and lay eggs. This means now is the best time to address them before they get out of control. We offer complete tick control through prevention and elimination. We use a combination of techniques to get rid of ticks in your yard and keep them from coming back. This includes our proven barrier treatment which eliminates adult ticks on contact. This treatment will last for up to 21 days before it has to be reapplied.in We We recommend using this in conjunction with our tick tube service, which targets nymph ticks. Tick tubes must be replaced twice throughout the season for maximum protection.
