Old Settlers Park

Anyone who lives in the Round Rock area has no doubt heard of Old Settlers Park, and I hope that everyone in that area has taken the time to visit. If you live a little further away, please consider coming in to spend some time here. It is well worth the trip.

This is the City of Round Rock's flagship park; big, bold and out there. Initially, the 645 acre park seems like one huge sports complex with soccer fields, baseball fields, softball fields, tennis courts, and football fields; but it does have much more to offer. These additional offerings include a water park, regulation cricket field, playgrounds, fishing lake, remote control airport, trails, disc golf and other amenities.

This park is busy every weekend with the numerous sports fields, but it still offers quiet areas with seven playgrounds for families. In the fall and spring, people launch hot air balloons from the adjacent area, making a pleasant backdrop for an early walk or run. The 3.5 miles of walking trails wander through both shaded and open areas. The walk around the lake is nice in the cooler months, because it is all out in the open, and the wooded areas are nice during the summer. There are several geocaches in the park. The 18 hole disc golf course is challenging, and fun; but offers little shade, so plan appropriately.

The Rock'N River water park is open to the public, and is an affordable option for summer fun. It has no swimming pool, but does have water slides, a lazy river, and a zero entry shallow pool with geysers. The water park is most interesting for children ten and under. Parking and wait times for the water park can be long on summer weekends; but it is cooler friendly, has free parking and is close and cheap.

This park also hosts numerous events, all year long. These include the Fourth of July celebrations, concerts, cross country races, Juneteenth celebrations, Easter eggs hunts, family camping night, fun runs, Christmas lights, bike rides, and cardboard boat races. There is something going on every month. The events at the park offer a wide variety of family activities.
